How do we protect your account?

Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union is committed to protecting the privacy of those who visit our site. Below you will find an outline of the security measures MSGCU takes to insure that your online account information is safe and secure. Of course, there are details that we can’t provide in order to maintain the integrity of our security systems.

Security Measures

Description

Account # and Password

Before logging in to Online Banking, online enrollment is required. The enrollment process includes several layers of authentication before allowing an account to login.

We require that an account number, or UserID, and password be used whenever the account is accessed through Online and Mobile Banking.

Your online password can be managed from Online Banking. We restrict the use of easily guessed and recently used passwords for your own protection.

A series of invalid logon attempts will block the account from further online access, until further verification is completed. Instructions will display on the screen in the event this occurs on your account.

We maintain detailed information on the failure attempts made on accounts.
Secure Emails Questions can be sent to our support staff through secure emails. You can access the secure email service by visiting our Contact Us page or by logging into Online Banking
Internet Client Browser

For your convenience, all mobile and desktop browsers are compatible with our website, as long as they meet the following specifications:

We require internet browsers that support 256-bit encryption, one of the strongest encryption methods commercially available. This encodes and encrypts all information traveling between your computer and our servers.

We also ask that you keep your preferred browser up to date, since many browser security issues have been addressed in the most recent versions of these browsers.

Determining if a site is secure is very simple. Secure sites will begin with HTTPS, your browser will display a green padlock in the URL field, and if you click the padlock, information on the encryption method used will be displayed.

For more information on Encryption/TLS, see below.
Session Timeout After 20 minutes of inactivity your Online Banking session will be automatically terminated for your protection. You can access your account by logging in again.
Encryption/TLS

Our web servers are equipped with a Digital Secure Certificate, encrypting or scrambling information sent to and from the server via Transport Layer Security (TLS) technology.

Encryption scrambles the data that travels between our server and your browser, only allowing the browser that originated the transaction to decrypt information sent by the server. This significantly decreases the possibility of tampering or intercepting the information.
Firewalls Our network is protected from outside intrusion by redundant and load-balanced firewalls. These secure systems control and prevent unauthorized access to our internal systems.
Intrusion Detection Systems Our network traffic is continuously scanned for possible malicious attacks to our systems.
Systems Security Audits Our systems are regularly audited by outside experts to identify vulnerabilities. Your personal and account information is not shared with network security auditors.
Server Logs

For your protection, all Online and Mobile Banking activity is recorded into detailed logs. These logs are used for investigating problems and disputes.

These logs are also regularly monitored to identify unusual activity.
24/7 Monitoring All Online and Mobile Banking systems are constantly monitored to insure all member information is safe and secure.

MSGCU is not responsible for the content or availability of any linked third party websites or privacy practices of such third parties. You should always investigate the information practices of all websites that you access and carefully examine the privacy policies of any websites linking to or from our website.
