Duffels for children entering foster care. Not garbage bags.

Children in foster care need to be shown that they are important people. Carrying their belongings from home to home in a garbage bag does little to give them a sense of worth. Children should not be limited in life because of the situation they were born into.

As a nationwide, non-profit organization, Together We Rise (TWR) partners with local foster care programs to transform the way kids experience foster care. The foster care system can be a confusing and sometimes disheartening place, but through TWR fundraising and its network of passionate volunteers, foster children are given a brighter future and a sense of normalcy and belonging.

TWR works with hundreds of foster agencies, social workers, CASA advocates and other partners, to provide thousands of foster youth across the country with new bicycles, college supplies, and suitcases, so that these children do not have to travel from home to home with their belongings in a trash bag.

In 2017, the Hayes branch contributed to TWR's Sweet Cases Program, donating over 30 duffle bags—filled with a teddy bear, a warm blanket, crayons, an art book, and a hygiene kit—to children within the Orchards Children’s Services case area. MSGCU team members were all hands-on, decorating each duffle bag with their own unique artwork.
