My name is Maryann Smith and I work at Roseville Middle School as a teacher for students with Cognitive Impairment Disabilities. If given the opportunity, we would like to put the grant money towards several life skills projects during the 2023-2024 school year. One of our focuses this year is to work on our studentsâ sense of responsibility and work ethic by running schoolwide bake sales. We would use the money to purchase baking supplies and ingredients along with equipment. Bake sales are a fun and engaging way to work on our studentsâ math skills by collecting money, making change, and familiarizing themselves with the various types of American currency. Working at the bake sale will help our students to build confidence and relationships with their peers and unfamiliar staff members. Making baked goods will teach our students how to follow a recipe, cooking instructions, as well as developing fine motor skills and creativity with mixing, pouring, measuring, decorating, etc.
