Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union (MSGCU), your member-owned financial institution, is committed to providing you with competitive products and services to meet your financial needs and help you reach your goals. We are equally committed to protecting the privacy of our members. Under current law, we are required to give you this privacy notice. It describes MSGCU’s privacy policy and practices related to the personal information we collect and disclose, including the parties who receive personal and sometimes non-public information from us as we conduct the business of the Credit Union.

Collecting Information

We collect non-public personal information about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on applications or other forms;
  • Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates or others;
  • Information about your transaction with non-affiliated third parties, such as non-proprietary Automated Teller Machine (ATM) operators;
  • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency; and
    Information obtained when verifying information provided on an application or other forms. This may be obtained from your current or past employers or from other institutions where you conduct financial transactions.

Disclosing Information

We do not disclose any non-public personal information about you to anyone, except as permitted by law.

We do not disclose any information about our former members, unless required by law.

In order to provide our members with competitive products and services, we may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above, to the following third parties:

  • Our affiliates;
  • Financial service providers with whom we have joint marketing agreements;
  • Non-financial companies, such as consumer reporting agencies;
  • Companies that perform marketing or other services on our behalf.

We restrict access to your personal and account information to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with Federal regulations to guard your non-public personal information.

Internet Security

If you conduct transactions with MSGCU via Internet Account Access, you may notice our use of Internet cookies. Cookies are a small text file assigned and attached by a web server to the directory file on your computer. Cookies enable our system to recognize your Internet browser and your information as you navigate and conduct transactions within MSGCU Internet Account Access. MSGCU Internet Account Access uses temporary session cookies that are stored on your computer only during your current session and automatically deletes them from your computer when you close your Internet browser. If you log out of the Internet Account Access session, you must log in again with your user ID and password to re-enter the session. This procedure prevents another user from gaining access to the Internet Account Access session when using the same computer.

Our website may contain links to other websites; these links are separate from MSGCU’s website. MSGCU is not responsible for the content or availability of any linked third party websites or privacy practices of such third parties. You should always investigate the information practices of all websites that you access and carefully examine the privacy policies of any websites linking to or from our website. Information collected from the linked websites will be subject to the information practices of those websites.
