Saline and Pittsfield Township Leaders Welcome New Credit Union Partner to Community

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich – Feb. 8, 2023 – Local community leaders gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony today to welcome Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union (MSGCU) to the Saline/Pittsfield Township community. The event was held at the Credit Union’s 18th branch office located at 6983 E. Michigan Ave., Saline, Mich.

“Our newest branch office in Saline offers increased access to important financial services for Michiganders who live in and around Washtenaw County,” said Steve Brewer, MSGCU President/CEO. “This branch allows us to help champion members to reach their financial goals with market-leading rates, low fees, and personalized service.”

MSGCU President/CEO Steve Brewer, Saline Area Chamber of Commerce President Lisa Bozzi, MSGCU Board Vice Chair Doug Smith, and MSGCU VP of Marketing and Business Development Ann Jones, spoke at the event and were joined by Pittsfield Township Supervisor Dr. Mandy Grewal for the cutting of the ribbon. Community members were also in attendance to meet the MSGCU Saline team and tour the facility.

“Credit unions are valuable centers for communities and MSGCU will help residents of every age plan their financial futures,” said Lisa Bozzi, Saline Area Chamber of Commerce President. “The MSGCU team is available and enthusiastic to answer member questions to help them achieve their goals during this questionable economic year.”

The Credit Union’s newest branch office provides a comprehensive suite of products and services offered by MSGCU for the benefit of its members and the community. This includes Saturday lobby and drive-thru hours, market-leading rates for a variety of loans and deposits, a fully staffed Michigan call center, access to nearly 30,000 fee-free ATMs nationwide, scholarship and grant opportunities, free educational workshops, and much more.

Saline native Katie Whitt serves as Branch Manager at the new location. Whitt has more than 10 years of experience in the financial services industry and joined MSGCU in 2022. She graduated from Rochester University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. Whitt attended Saline Area Schools and is now a proud Saline Hornet mom.

“The Saline and Washtenaw County communities have welcomed us with open arms, and we look forward to forming important partnerships with members, organizations, and businesses in these areas,” Whitt said.

As a Michigan-based institution for nearly 70 years, MSGCU strives to be a champion for the communities they serve by giving back and investing in Michigan residents, providing more than $315,000 in 2022. MSGCU annually awards over $100,000 in scholarships to students, educators furthering their education, and those pursuing careers as first responders or in the skilled trades industry. The Credit Union’s Scholarship Program is accepting applications now through February 28 at msgcu.org/scholarships. MSGCU also supports local teachers by annually awarding $45,000 in Classroom Cash Grants to deserving educators. These grants help bring innovative projects to life in the classroom that otherwise wouldn’t be funded.

With more than 140,000 members, MSGCU has a long history of serving educators, first responders, government employees, and Michiganders of all backgrounds across the state. The Credit Union welcomes anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in Michigan to bank with them. Beyond banking, MSGCU provides financial literacy for the communities it serves through free educational workshops and presentations, an Interactive Financial Education platform, a blog, and through personalized financial counseling in each branch.
