Recently, an increased number of members are reporting calls and texts from scammers claiming to be from MSGCU. The fraudsters falsely claim a fraudulent transaction has occurred on their account. These scammers then attempt to gather online banking credentials, such as username or password, and full credit or debit card numbers, including the 3-digit CVV (Card Verification Value) number on the back of the card, in order to "stop" the fraud.
If you ever receive a suspicious text or call, do not reply, click on any links, or call the number back. Instead, immediately call MSGCU directly at (586) 263-8800 or (866) 674-2848 or visit any of our 24 branch locations to report this suspicious behavior, or to report if your account or identity have been compromised so that we can help. If you do receive one of these calls or texts, do not give out any of your account information, including full credit or debit card details, and simply hang up.
While you may receive a call or text from MSGCU's fraud department for unusual activity on your credit or debit card, we will never ask you for detailed card information, including the 3-digit CCV number on the back of your card and/or the expiration date.
IMPORTANT: As a reminder, MSGCU will NEVER ask for your online banking password, log-in verification code, and/or full credit and debit card details for fraud protection or to verify your identity.
