T&I Credit Union and MSGCU Merger News and FAQ

Thank you for your membership and continued patience as the technical systems of T&I Credit Union are merged into Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union. You will have access to all MSGCU products, services, and locations on November 3. Please see the following frequently asked questions.

Can I still use my T&I CU checks?

Yes. Existing checks will continue to work for the foreseeable future, so you may continue to use your existing stock. We will inform you when T&I CU checks can no longer be used.

Non-business members will receive a voucher to order a complimentary box of checks with your new account number.

Will I get new MSGCU checks?

Non-business members will receive a voucher to order a complimentary box of checks with your new account number. Your old checks will continue to be used, so you will have 12 months to redeem the voucher. Business members will receive options for ordering business checks at a discount after Nov. 3.

How do I get cash?

Members can get cash:

Debit cards are issued to members who have a checking account. If you do not already have a checking account, we are happy to serve you in Clawson or any branch office to dispense cash or help set one up for 24/7 ATM access.

What happens with my T&I CU loan?

Loans you have with T&I CU will transfer to MSGCU automatically; you don’t have to do anything. The same terms including payment date, rates, and length of loan continue as-is. Recurring payments already set up from your T&I CU account will automatically transfer, too, and you can pay ahead up to one month. If you set up a recurring transfer in T&I CU’s online banking, it will need to be reestablished. You will receive new loan payment coupons with your new account number.

What happens with my T&I CU checking accounts, savings accounts, or Certificates of Deposit (CDs)?

Checking and savings accounts you have with T&I CU will transfer to MSGCU automatically; you don’t have to do anything. The same rates and terms you have now will continue. Money Market accounts are an exception; please see information below.

CD terms will also continue as-is. You will receive a notice at time of CD maturity and have 10 business days to make a change.

How do CD dividends work at MSGCU?

MSGCU pays dividends quarterly (based on calendar quarter-end), and at time of maturity. This is one of the ways MSGCU gives back to members all year with market-leading rates. All CDs moving forward will follow MSGCU’s schedule. Due to the technical system merger of T&I CU into MSGCU, all T&I CU CDs transferring to MSGCU will see a one-time dividend payment with an effective date of 10/31, even if the CD was not scheduled to make a dividend payment at that time.

Can I use an account nickname?

Yes. While existing nicknames will not transfer automatically, all accounts can be easily renamed in Online Banking or the MSGCU Mobile App. You can even group accounts and rearrange them to your preference.

What happens with my T&I CU Money Market account?

Money market accounts will not transition over to MSGCU. Money Market accounts will transition to an MSGCU Silver Savings (balances below $50,000) or Gold Savings (balances above $50,000) account.

While you do not have to do anything, we are always happy to talk about different savings options to maximize returns for you. See more about these accounts.

How can I see my credit card statements?

Credit card statements will be mailed to you moving forward. You may also request a copy of your statement from MSGCU by contacting us online or via phone, or visiting any MSGCU branch office. Because access to T&I CU’s online and mobile banking stopped on Oct. 31, accessing digital statements for your T&I CU credit card is no longer available. We are happy to discuss options for MSGCU credit cards that offer eStatements. Please feel free to stop by any branch office or contact us.

Will I get a new credit card?

Credit cards are not changing right away, so please continue to use your T&I CU credit card as you do now. Payments can be made via mail, at the Clawson branch, or using MSGCU’s online bill pay service after Nov. 3.

New cards are anticipated to be issued in 2026, and you will hear more in the coming months.

What do I need to do on and immediately after Nov. 3?

On Nov. 3, activate and begin using your new MSGCU debit card, if applicable. We also encourage you to register for Online Banking and the MSGCU Mobile App so you have 24/7 access to your accounts. If you use Bill Pay at T&I CU, you will also need to set up payees in MSGCU’s bill pay system.

Will my Bill Pay payees and established recurring payments transfer over?

No. Following the combination of banking systems, online bill pay will be through MSGCU’s provider. To prepare for the change and allow all payments to process, T&I CU Bill Pay will not be available after Oct. 26. It is encouraged to save existing payees before Oct. 26 because you will not have access to reference them after that date.

Single payments and any recurring payments already set up will continue to process until Oct. 31.

Please make sure to register for MSGCU’s online and mobile banking so you can set up payments in the new bill pay system. You are welcome to bring your list of payees and account numbers to the Clawson branch, or any MSGCU branch office, as we are happy to help you reestablish payments.

Will my scheduled recurring Bill Pay payments be impacted?

Yes. Payees will not transfer over into the new system, including existing recurring payments.

It is recommended to download a list of your current payees from Bill Pay. You may bring the payee list, with account numbers for each provider, to Clawson or any MSGCU branch office for assistance in reestablishing your recurring payments.

What kind of historical information will I have access to?

T&I CU transaction history will not be available in MSGCU’s online and mobile banking. If you would like to have access to your historical T&I CU eStatements, please log in and download them from your T&I CU online account before Oct. 31.

While you will not have access to statements or transaction history in MSGCU’s online or mobile banking, team members will be able to help you in a branch office or over the phone if needed.

How do I access statements going forward?

Statements can be mailed to you, or you can elect to receive them electronically (eStatements) while you are registering for online and mobile banking. Paper statements are distributed after month-end and are generally delivered within a few business days, depending upon your mail delivery.

You may receive up to three statements depending on the products you use:

Final T&I CU statements for the month ending Oct. 31 will be delivered via paper. As a reminder, make sure to download any historical T&I CU eStatements before Oct. 31 if you would like to have access to them in the future.

How can I make payments on my loan once it is at MSGCU?

There are many options to pay your loan at MSGCU, including but not limited to these methods:

As a reminder, you will not need to make any changes to existing automatic payments set up by the Clawson team using T&I CU funds to your loan, as those will continue to process upon system conversion. If you set up a recurring transfer in T&I CU’s online banking, it will need to be reestablished. T&I CU credit card payments can be made via mail, in branch, or using MSGCU’s online bill pay service after Nov. 3.

Can I continue to pay via text message?

Yes. You will be able to pay via text message at MSGCU after Nov. 3. The provider will be different than what you used at T&I CU, so you may need to opt in again. Additional details will be available closer to Nov. 3.

How do I register for online and mobile banking?

You will need your new MSGCU account number to register which you will receive closer to Nov. 3. Online banking and the MSGCU Mobile App use the same username and password, so you only need to register once.

Start at msgcu.org or download the MSGCU Mobile App from your smartphone’s app store. Select Register or Enroll on the log in screen and follow the on-screen prompts. We welcome you to watch our tutorial which walks you through the process. We are happy to help at any branch office, over the phone, or through Video Banking.

What can I access in online and mobile banking?

Online Banking and the highly rated MSGCU Mobile App provide 24/7 access to:

Will I still be able to use Zelle?

No. You will have access to MSGCU’s Send Money service when you register for online and mobile banking. Like Zelle, Send Money also allows you to easily send money to friends or family with their phone or email address, and it has an added layer of fraud protection with a secret phrase to share with your payee.

I am a member at T&I CU and MSGCU. What happens to my accounts?

The accounts will stay separate when the systems combine on Nov. 3. Your T&I CU and MSGCU accounts will eventually be merged into one account, though it is a manual process and will take longer to process. We may need to contact you to complete this step.

I have multiple T&I CU accounts. Will those continue to be separate?

The accounts will continue to be separate, and you will receive a new account number, and if applicable, debit card for each account. If accounts can be combined in the future, we may need to contact you to complete this step.

Is anything changing with safe deposit boxes available in the Clawson branch?

Safe deposit boxes will continue to be available at the Clawson branch and will renew at your current rate until December 2026.

Any new safe deposit box opened on or after Nov. 3 will follow MSGCU’s standard procedures and fees.

Is the fee schedule changing?

After Nov. 2, MSGCU’s fee schedule will be in place. It can be viewed here. Business members can view their fee schedule here. You can receive a printed copy at any MSGCU branch office, or request one to be mailed to you by calling (866) 674-2848.

What is happening to the UChoose Rewards program?

The existing UChoose Rewards program will not continue at MSGCU, although options for earning and redeeming points exist with the MSGCU Rewards Visa Credit Card.

Will my account number change?

Yes. Account numbers will change and will be sent via mail closer to Nov. 3. Existing direct deposits, such as payroll or Social Security payments, automatic payments coming from your checking account, and any recurring loan payments will continue to process on their regular schedule. While we may ask you to update these in the future, you will not need to take any action now.

Non-business members will receive a voucher to order a complimentary box of checks with your new account number. Existing checks will continue to work so you may keep using your existing stock. If you have a debit card, you will also receive a new card close to Nov. 3.

When will my account number change and when will I get the new number?

Account numbers changed on Nov. 3. You will receive your account number closer to the date to avoid confusion when signing up for online services.

Will I get a new debit card?

All members who previously had an active debit card and checking account should have received their new debit card, which can now be activated. While automatic payments from your checking account will continue to process, any recurring payments set up with your T&I CU debit card will need to be updated starting Nov. 3. You can review past statements to determine if your debit card was used for recurring payments.

If you participate in UChoose Rewards program, see information below.
